About
The kitchen, the table, the light
Lumi (loo-mee)
A glow that brings warmth to the spaces and people around it.
A symbol of warmth, connection, creativity.
Why we started Lumi
Lumi started with a simple idea: to create the kind of dining experience that we would want to go to ourselves.
I’ve spent my career working in kitchens and hospitality, learning from different chefs, kitchens and people along the way. Eventually, I wanted to take everything I’d learnt and create something that felt completely our own. Something where I could be creative with food, but also have a say in everything around it, from the atmosphere and service to the music, the little details and how people feel when they sit down.
That’s where Lumi came from.
Lumi means light, and that idea runs through the whole experience. We want you to arrive somewhere warm and intimate, with the lights low, candles on the tables and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable straight away.
Then comes the food.
Seasonal ingredients, considered cooking and dishes that are creative without losing what makes them enjoyable. It’s fine dining, but without the stiffness. We want you to be able to sit back, enjoy the food, have a drink, talk, laugh and take your time.
Our first chapter, Chapter One: Autumn 2026, is the beginning of that journey.
We’re starting small, with intimate pop-ups and a limited number of guests, because we want to make the experience feel personal. Every dish, every plate and every detail has a reason behind it.
Lumi is something I’m building with Ellie, and ultimately, it’s about creating something that belongs to both of us.
This is just the beginning.
Where it goes
Lumi is only the beginning.
We’re starting with intimate pop-ups, bringing Lumi to different places and creating each one around the season, the ingredients and the space we’re in. The plan is to build Lumi slowly, learn from every event and keep making the experience better each time.
Over the next few years, we hope to take Lumi to more cities, create more chapters and build a community of people who want to come back and see what’s next.
Eventually, the dream is to have a place of our own. Somewhere that brings everything we love about Lumi together under one roof, from the food and atmosphere to the people and the little details.
For now, we’re taking it one chapter at a time.
Chapter One starts in Cardiff, our home city.
